Burton marshes - Jack Snipe, Avocets and a few more!

This afternoon I went out to my usual local patch - rather quiet today.

x1 male Bullfinch
x2 - pair of Buzzards flying around together
x1 Greenshank
x2 Avocet
x1 Jack Snipe
x1 Kestrel
x4 Godwits
and the usual - Teal, B&G Tits, female Siskin, Wigeon, Shelducks, Moorhens, Coots, Canadian geese, Grey Lags ... the Canlag with female Canadian goose... #StillFindThatStrange!
x3 cute rats

After taking a few quick shots of the geese I headed over to the far hide then kind of gave up taking photo's - unusual for me! Got rather distracted watching the Jack Snipe... unfortunately I didn't manage to get a photo, well unless you can find the Snipe amongst the reeds on the last photo (somewhere to the bottom right!).

Local area 21/03/2013 Barn Owl

A quick blog post of today's sightings before work.

6:30am - 8:30am:
Barn Owl
2 Peregrines
1 Kestrel
2 Shelduck
2 Herons
1 Egret
Gulls/seabirds
Ducks

My first proper sighting of a Barn Owl this year near to me, the owl was there as soon as I drove up in the car flying around but only for a short amount of time unfortunately, but I managed to get a quick photo on my phone.

I set my alarm a bit later then I meant to... The original plan was to be there for half 5!

The beautiful Isle of Skye!

After a night of snow near the lodge and a lovely sunny morning I decided to head out to Skye hoping there would be a few dramatic scenes...

Can you tell I'm having trouble choosing which photo's to post...?

A few deer...

Quite a lot of Herons around in Skye.

The famous Eilean Donan castle - on nearly every shortbread biscuit tin!

Buzzard.

On the way back, I came across quite a large group of deer - couldn't resist taking a few photo's!

Enjoying a wee bit of snow!

Out walking the dogs in the snow before heading to Skye.
